TM-Flow Testing

TM-Flow is a non-invasive diagnostic testing system used to evaluate the function of the autonomic nervous system and vascular system. The test provides physicians with objective information about nerve function, circulation, and cardiovascular regulation that can help identify potential contributors to a patient's symptoms.

TM-Flow testing may be useful for patients experiencing symptoms or conditions such as:

  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet

  • Burning or nerve-related pain

  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Lower-extremity pain or discomfort

  • Poor circulation

  • Diabetes-related nerve complications

  • Dizziness or changes in blood pressure

  • Symptoms that may have both vascular and neurological causes

The TM-Flow system combines several assessments into a single testing session. These can include evaluation of sudomotor function, which provides information related to small nerve fiber function; heart rate variability and autonomic function; and vascular measurements such as the ankle-brachial index (ABI).

Testing is non-invasive and does not require needles or injections. Sensors, electrodes, and blood pressure cuffs are used to collect measurements that are compiled into a report for the physician to review.

For patients with chronic pain, numbness, tingling, or other neurological symptoms, determining whether symptoms are related to nerve dysfunction, impaired circulation, or another underlying condition can be an important part of developing an appropriate treatment plan. TM-Flow provides additional objective data that can help our medical team better understand these potential contributing factors.

At Interventional Pain & Wellness Center, TM-Flow testing may be used as part of a comprehensive evaluation to help identify the source of symptoms and guide an individualized treatment plan.
